Namaqua Dove (Oena capensis)
Not a very common Dove, like the Laughing Dove, but a Namaqua Dove, a bird I have not seen before. This is the male and although on paper it seems to be about the same size as a European Turtle Dove, the length is all due to the very long tail as the body is actually quite small. The female does not have the half black face and throat or the orange beak. It is very exciting to see new birds again. The extra is of that Night Heron looking really quite scary!
