Bullfinch (and later Redpoll)
I couldn't believe it when spotting this pair on the grass, not great shots but the closest I am likely to see them. What beauties. The other male was in the apple tree above them, he flew off when I appeared at the window. These didn't stay long but long enough. Normally we would only see them in a Rowan tree pecking the young leaves, always too far away or in the apple tree enjoying the blossom. To see them on the ground was a real treat.
The extra was added later in the day: a pair of Redpoll, so pleased they have found us this year, the evening sunshine catching the goldfinch and Siskin. We arrived home later in afternoon and my first glimpse of a redpoll was drinking water from the pond, where's the camera. Too late, however they perched in the apple tree and of course on the feeder.
