The Ousel-Cock

The ousel-cock, so black of hue,
With orange-tawny bill,
The throstle with his note so true,
The wren with little quill;

The finch, the sparrow, and the lark,
The plain-song cuckoo gray,
Whose note full many a man doth mark,
And dares not answer nay.

From 'A Midsummer-Night's Dream'  Act III Scene 1, by William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)

A very busy day for me today, starting at 5.30 a.m. and finishing in a few moments' time at 10.30 p.m.  Watching the Shakespeare Live programme on BBC2 as I write this, and thought I'd quote from the Bard to go with my blipfoto of our tail-featherless blackbird singing to me in the garden late this afternoon.
