Busy day today! We went into town quite early, after Katie had eaten 2 large breakfasts, and did some jobs. But before we did anything she wanted to go for a decaff. So we did - heck, she had me up at 4.45, I wasnt saying no to a cuppa. We then did that which we needed doing and a couple of bonuses - like the new shoes for her, 75% off in the Clarks sale. Not that she needed new shoes, so not really a bargain. But they are pale pink patent leather, with a little bow and dainty sparkly trim. Hideous in my opinion. Until Katie went anywhere near them, then somehow they looked adorable. The woman who brought them to me said she just knew they would suit her. And I also got a pair of doodles to put away for next summer for £4, so a result!
From there, I had told her we were going to the gymnastics party. End of year session is Always a bouncy castle and party session. Only someone had forgotten to tell the substitute teachers that so it was a room full of disappointed toddlers. Except that Katie and Bobbobs werent disappointed. They were thoroughly delighted to see each other and Ran and Ran and Ran playing chase and cuddles. They proudly did the circuits, side by side, hand in hand. Katie wouldnt leave Bobbobs side hardly.
I was really impressed with Katie on the bars today. The instructor was teaching a couple of older siblings who were sitting in on the class to do "baskets" on the bar - hang by their hands then lift their feet up and catch them behind the bar. Getting ready for flicking over and improving core strength. Katie "I have stupid amounts of core strength for a 2year old" walked up said "Katie do it now" and to her teacher's surprise (substitute, mind - hers wouldnt have been surprised) when she was lifted up to the bar, she just did it. And hung there really strong. Then ran back to the queue to do it all again.
After gymnastics I'd offered to katie that we would have lunch and play in the playcentre but she said she wanted to go swimming instead. So we had a quick lunch at home and a'swimming we did go. For over 90 minutes. She did two lengths of the learner pool, without putting her foot down, with just an occasional hold under her tummy from me. When I said it was time to get out, she tried to swim away. She then tried hiding under the water. She then cried!
When we got home, she ate loaddddsss. She played a while. And then she said to me "Mummy, I want to go to sleep and I want you to cuddle me". So to sleep in my arms in bed she went, after a couple of stories. I went up to check on her and found her cuddling both our childhood best friend toys. My Pluck and her Monkey.
