Alan Ward's beautifully carved monument ...

Very lucky to be able to share in the celebration of the end of the project to clear out the grounds of Lancaster Priory, replant with 28,000 new bulbs and plants and then install the moving monument to those buried in unconsecrated grounds with no markers. As Rev Chris Newlands said ... some were prisoners from the castle 'next door', others may have committed murder, of themselves. It may have been illegal for centuries ... but how sad it is to think your loved ones wouldn't have had a place to visit and console themselves. Alan Ward is such a talented artist - and stonecarver. The choir sang beautifully too ... with a lovely arrangement of the Latin and English wording from the monument.

Congratulations to all involved and I can't wait to see how the planting grows and changes to space.
