...And so it begins again!

This beautiful female Emperor moth Saturnia pavonia, hatched today from the pupae Juliet has been keeping safely on her balcony all winter. 
This is the third year we have raised Emperor moth larvae to the adult stage, and as previously I will be releasing her into the local forest as soon as the weather improves. In the meantime she is enjoying a flight in my huge flight cage.
