Purple toothwort
I have walked past this patch of purple toothwort (Lathraea clandestina) many times over the past 4 years (as it is right next to the biology buildings) but have never photographed it. It is a parasitic plant (as can be seen by the lack of leaves to capture light) and takes nutrients from the roots of poplar and willow trees.
I had an assessed presentation on flower shapes today - I think it went well!
