Happy Birthday Your Majesty

Another lovely day and I managed to sit out and read for half an hour when we got in from school.

Following on from the sad news about Victoria Wood yesterday, today we learnt that Prince had died. It's been quite a start to the year! 

On a more positive note, it was the Queen's 90th birthday and across the country beacons were being lit to mark the event. I had seen that there was one at All Saints Church in Normanton, so our evening walk was sorted. It was only a small one compared to a lot of others, lit on the church tower. There was a reasonable gathering, the local school choir sang happy birthday, and the Queen even put in an appearance (see extras).
