Rusty Blackbird
Identified by yellow eyes and rusty-colored feather edges, the rusty blackbird lives in wooded swamps. The bird's population has declined about 90% in the past 50 years, and scientists don't know why. I think I can safely say that many people in the U.S. have never seen a rusty blackbird.
The three rusty blackbirds observed at Waa Kee Sha Park this morning are likely travelling north to Canada for the summer breeding season. They were foraging around a wooded swamp, see extra.
