Saved!

The residents of Micklethwaite and the surrounding villages have waged a long battle to save these fields from development. There was a plan for upwards of 400 houses. As I drove home tonight there was a crowd at the bridge with glasses of wine. An announcement had come through from the Secretary of State refusing thee development! A lot of people have invested a lot of time and money into fighting this so victory is sweet. As I drove back from tennis a chap was photographing a heron that was standing near the bridge. There are lots of geese, cattle, shire horses and bats - a real haven for wildlife. Fantastic news!
