Liverpool: Chinatown Lion: RESPECT!

Most Chinatowns around the world seem to have lions guarding.

What struck me as interesting was the wreath that had been laid - Respect!

Liverpool is proud of its links with China and its people; as are the people of China with Liverpool. Liverpool has one of the oldest established Chinese communities in Europe. The trade links between China and Britain via the ports of Shanghai and Liverpool were instrumental in the establishment of a Chinese community within the city. The first vessels arrived in Liverpool direct from China way back in nineteenth century.
