The Curious.

Gawping at a housefire.  By the time the fire department arrived it was apparent the house could not be saved.  The latent photojournalist got the better of me.

       With all the prescribed burns happening in the forest one becomes a little blasé about the scent of smoke in the air.  Until it smells a little different and one hears more emergency vehicle sirens than is usual in our quiet corner of the world.  I walked nearly a mile to get some snaps.  "Are you guys press?" was the query from the police. There was another photographer on the scene.  The locals were driving to see what they could see and neighbours gathered.

       The house and its contents is a total loss.  Statistics for the curious.

       The extra is the 3,500gal capacity tender refilling at a fire-plug(hydrant).  Well actually the hose was being disconnected after the tank was refilled.
