Holly Blue Butterfly
I went for a walk along a stretch of canal that has always been good for wild flowers and butterflies. To my horror all the vegetation had been mowed to the ground and up to the hedges that had been cut right back. They've done the same to the canal a few miles away so must be working their way along. It's no wonder that wildlife is having such a tough time when these wildlife corridors are disappearing. Rant over - sorry!
This butterfly found a celandine well past it's best - most had gone under the blade. It was lovely to see it, my first of the year.
