Spring Loaded

Part of a tree trunk that has been washed up on the salt marsh showed signs of shedding its bark. Or rather the bark appears almost to have been spring loaded and has torn itself away from the tree leaving gashes in the bark  and coiling itself quite tightly. Worth looking at large to see the detail.
