OLD FAN . . .
. . . OF MINE ! Hehe . . . well Huntcliff Ironstone Mine to be exact !
This was a drift mine which operated from 1872 until 1906. It was used to extract stale air from the mine workings. The fan itself was 9 metres in diameter and driven at a speed of 49RPM and by a steam engine. Once there were 15 in this area. Today this is the best remaining example of a Guibal Fanhouse in the country.
I have attached 3 extras showing the Fanhouse and the shaft workings.
Sincere apologies . . . broadband driving me crazy and this has taken me 90 minutes to upload. Will still keep trying to view your images. Bear with me.
