Don't Cut Me Down
This is the centre of town, adjacent to the level crossing which takes you across the railway lines to the other side of town.
The good side of town is the side you live on.
Having lived on both sides I'm still trying to work it out.
Moves are afoot to change the appearance of this spot.
The highway is to be widened to allow for extra turning lanes, and this plane tree is for the chop.
If you look hard you can see the sign which has been attached to it, saying, 'DON'T CUT ME DOWN'
I've only noticed from this photo that somebody has added prayer flags.
Petitions have been signed and there's a hard core of the usual people, including Cymbeline, who have been working hard to minimise the damage to the trees and the streetscape.
We shall see.
