On our way
Monday 18th April 2016
So, the original idea was that we got our coach and caught the ferry from Heysham arriving in the Isle of Mann late afternoon for an evening stroll and leisurely meal. Simple.
However, our ferry was the one that hit the dock in the storm the other week so it is in dry dock! So, we left St Helens at 8.15pm and went to Stretton interchange as planned. Then they took us to Cheshire Oaks for two hours, a designer retail outlet. What joy, I hate shopping. Then they took us to Chester for a couple of hours. We walked the full perimeter of the wall, at least that was better. Then back towards Warrington for a meal in a hotel where the soup was no better than dishwater! Finally we made it to Liverpool docks at 7pm, 11.5hrs after leaving home (I live half an hour from the docks!)
The coach wasn't allowed on the cataraman so we became foot passengers. The crossing was ok. A new coach met us and drove us all the way to our hotel, 2 mins away from the dock. We finally got to the hotel at 10.15pm, a long day!
