Lapwing
Thank you for the lovely response to Saturdays reflections - it left a warm glow, which would have been really helpful at the time.
All in all I was in the lake for around 70 minutes at 5°C. Cognitive function seemed fine ( I know, hard to judge with me....) but it took a lonnggg hot shower, a lot of sweet tea and an hours drive home with heated seats to stop the involuntary shivering - sobering food for thought.
Today started dull, but by mid afternoon it brightened up, so I took pooch up onto the Scar. The light quality was flat and distant views looked very washed out, then I noticed this fellow. Not the best shot, but it does conclude a little mini series of the stars of the Orton Fells moorland birds - Curlew, Oystercatcher and now Lapwing. I shall endeavour to get a Wheatear for the set.
