Me with my first new car

Left it a bit late as I was waiting to get a photo of an ITV West news item about 'Paws on Patrol' in which Jonty and Foxy were filmed along with a number of other dogs and handlers in Gloucester Park last Monday. It was pouring down at the time but it had already been postponed.
Well, the item was on the 1800 ITV West news this evening. I missed it and can't find a 'replay' on the internet so treating you to a photo of a photo of me with my new car in Malta. I'd previously had a 1952 Ford Anglia (100E side valve engine) and a Ford Consul, Mk2 but when I got posted to Malta I decided to get myself a brand new car, tax free.
The car is a Ford Escort Mk1, 1300GT. I bought it late 1972 and the plan was to drive it back home to UK at the end of my tour. Unfortunately, I was posted back to the UK after 16 months, of a 24 month tour, when I was promoted to Corporal. I say unfortunately because I loved being in Malta and also I could not afford to pay off the remaining payments on the car. So, I sold it and flew back in an RAF VC10 instead of the exciting drive I had planned.
Returning to the UK I then got my first motorbike, Honda CB175, as I was a learner at the time.
The map location is where I lived in Malta in Marsascala Bay.
