Loveliest
Loveliest of lakes, Buttermere now
Is still and calm and reflective,
And lies inside the ring of fells
Blue, green, grey, the season’s hue.
Now of my four score years and ten,
Sixty one will not come again.
And take from ninety springs three score
That only leaves me thirty more.
And since to find all beauteous sights
Thirty springs are far too short,
About the wide world I will go
Following the water’s ebb and flow…
