Intrepid Surfers

On a bitterly cold day I spent time  out on the beach trying to capture pictures of the surfers out on Belhaven Bay. Their faces were red raw with the cold. The surf was not brilliant so I took a lot of shots of distant surfers waiting for the right wave. Hardly anyone seemed to make it to standing on their board and the two I have captured here are just riding the waves and one has almost  lost his board.

As I was walking back with the dogs I saw a group from the surf school heading out for the beach. It is probably a good ten minutes walk from where they get changed. It always looks so incongruous to me as they make their way across the salt marsh carrying their boards. So I have included a picture of them as an extra. The ship looming on the horizon looks as though it is just the other side of the dunes but is in fact a couple of miles out to sea.
