One of those days
My car needed a service so I put my bike in the back and rode the remaining distance to work after I dropped it off at the garage, I quite enjoyed the ride and the challenge of staying safe among the cars. Unfortunately I need my car for work so I can't ride into work regularly, I am sure the car would always be in the wrong place if I tried it!
Part way through the day I got an email to say that the car needed a few parts and it was going to cost £££££££, worse still the parts wouldn't be available until next Tuesday!! (unbelievable) I was going to need a hire car.
After a hurried conversation with my boss who was trying to get off on holiday the cost of repairs were approved as was the hire car costs and all was calm again until the hire company rang to say that they couldn't deliver, could I collect? - no problem after all I had my bike!
Finished what was quite a productive day at work and set off through the rush hour traffic to the hire car base. "Oh hello, I'm afraid the car you hired isn't available, don't worry we will find something" - I said I don't care what it is as long as my bike fits in the back!
I ended up driving home in a Nissan Cashcow, seemingly quite a popular vehicle, one of those things that looks like a 4wd but isn't, it's actually quite small and not over comfortable but I'm not complaining, it's quite well equipped and a change is as good as a rest.
