Marjorie's ramblings

Perspective at Langley Viaduct

I could easily have stayed in bed this morning, but I had a recce to do for the Festival so I had to get up.

The walk is called "Looking and Seeing". The expert leader, Richard Holmes, will help us look at a familiar landscape through new eyes. His background is in Geology and he is very good at interpreting the landscape.

I was accompanied by John R, who is the back up on the day and Richard brought a walking friend, Ian S, along too. We were lucky with the weather. While Humshaugh was dowsed in rain, we had a few periods of light drizzle in the South Tyne Valley. I walked without a waterproof for most of the walk.

Near the end of the route, we walk across the Lambley Viaduct and then climb down the steps to the river below. It's a wonderful piece of engineering. Today I was drawn to this image, with the bridge apparently disappearing into the distance.

My hand has been less painful for most of the day. John kindly drove me to the walk so I did not have to try to grip the steering wheel and all three did the gates for me. I was well looked after.

Home to a hot bath and an evening of catch up TV.
