Castlerigg Stone Circle
After yesterday's walk, it was decided that a rest day was in order, so MrM suggested driving over Kirkstone, Wrynose and Hardknott passes, as neither he nor Angus had been over them before. Just as steep and winding as I remember them!
Had our picnic lunch by the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, with the marvellous backdrop of the Langdale Pikes, and stopped in Keswick for tea and cake in the afternoon, before heading over to the Castlerigg Stone Circle. Many years since I've been there, but the circle is more impressive than I remembered, and in such an amazing location.
Then up past Ullswater to the caravan, for a meal and evening of Scrabble.
