Three Razorbills Sat Upon A Cliff

Kippers were on the cards today.  Both BB and TT wanted to go for kippers, so it was off to Craster for us.  Once the kippers were purchased, we headed off for a walk along the coast to Dunstanburgh Castle (we left the kippers in the car!).  It was a bit of a cold and dreich day, but I guess that adds to the atmosphere of the coastal walk and the ruined castle.  We were quite cold by the time we got to the castle, so didn’t really do a huge amount of exploring or hanging about.  We headed back to Craster for our picnic.  BB requested that we eat it in the car as it was far too cold outside.  We drove round the coast a bit and did as requested by BB.

We then headed to Howick Hall, one of TT’s favourite tea rooms.  Just as we got there and started our walk, it started to rain and it poured.  We sheltered in the exhibition hall.  Once the rain was almost off we headed out for what turned into a very muddy walk.  The weather did brighten up eventually which was good.  The arboretum is quite sheltered and it was good to see the magnolias coming out.  It would have been nicer to see them against a blue sky though.  We ended our visit with a visit to the tea room.  Poor BB wasn’t very happy by this stage of the day as he had wet feet, and he didn’t want a cake.  He did however eat at least half of my delicious Victoria sponge.

We went out for a pub tea, and BB made good use of their free wifi – as we have been living a wifi free week!

Here are razorbills on the cliffs at Dunstanburgh Castle.  Not a fabulous shot, but it was taken through a fence at the edge of the cliff, in the wind and the rain and my hands were so cold I could hardly operate my camera.
