Beetle drive?

Here is a Violet Ground Beetle, that's for sure. But there are two types, it seems. One more rare than the other. I think it's the rare one, but then I would. Carabus problematicus..

It was a lively thing and I got in as close as I could with the camera. Then tried to crop more tightly for a much more interesting view but Blipfoto said the image was "too small" to upload. So you get a picture of hands. Oh well.
