Caddis fly

This morning I was surveying an old patch of woodland with a lovely stream running along one edge. Whilst looking at the ground flora a flutter of yellow/brown caught my attention nearby. Always alert for early flying butterflies at the moment, I quickly went to the tree trunk at the side of the stream where the mysterious flying thing seemed to have landed. I quickly located this really large caddis fly, which I think might be
Stenophylax permistus (I will have to check it with our local expert). Nearby were some large old oaks with dead limbs on the ground, which will be worth checking for interesting invertebrates over this summer.
