You know you're in Stroud or Eastern Europe
...when the windows of vacant shop windows are filled with jars of pickled cabbage and bottles of locally produced Ale!
Yes, folks, it's the festival of fermentation. Nothing is for sale. It's an exhibition to help folk understand the culture of culturing and fermentation. Whatever lights your candle.... Oddly enough, I was just reading in Waitrose mag that at the Ballymaloe restaurant and cookery school in County Cork, they used to serve home made lemonade, but of course that's very high n sugar, so now they offer a fermented drink instead, such as flavoured water kefirs, kombucha, drinking vinegars and shrubs.
I think I might give the shrubs a miss.
