Aachen Cathedral, Germany

I saw this painting framed in a gallery in Aachen about 20 years ago. I had them take it out of the frame and roll the canvas, placing it in a tube. They were most reluctant to do so saying it may crack the paint. I insisted knowing it was the only way to get it back home, via the post.

Is subsequently arrived with no damage and I had it framed locally. I had not used my old 5D3 camera for about 10 months so today I thought it was time to dust it off and do something quick for a blip. This made the perfect subject.

Aachen Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Aachen, on the far western side of Germany. It is the oldest cathedral in northern Europe, and was constructed by order of the Emperor Charlemagne, who was buried there after his death in 814.
