Rural appreciation

Just as urban life brings plenty of photo opportunities, never dismiss the countryside.
Urban scenes focus predominantly on buildings, architectural styles and recognisable tourist attractions, and you cannot deny the opportunities for photography are limitless.
Yet even a walk along an ordinary country lane, one that you might find in any village, opens up prospects which when viewed through a camera viewfinder take on a fresh dimension from what you see with the naked eye.
That’s because you can be selective with the camera lens. What you see in normal everyday life can be framed by the camera to highlight just those parts that catch the eye.
I have walked this lane regularly over the best part of a lifetime spent in this village, yet it was not till today that I took time to notice what was around me, and to appreciate  what the camera could do for me in capturing an everyday scene on an ordinary country road which I or the camera could turn into something memorable.

Not quite picture postcard, perhaps, but holding sufficient interest to encourage me to focus my attention. Appropriately of course, it’s called Gazing Lane.
