No 192: Red Kite
This has been a bit of a bogey bird for me. I've seen them a few times but never managed a photo. They are pretty unusual in this area, but sightings are becoming a little more frequent.
I'd gone out to recce a site were we are supposed to be doing a Heronries Survey, but the road was closed. Instead I went for a walk up on the moors, where it was very quiet - a Wheatear, a single Swallow, a few Meadow pipits and the usual Red Grouse, and none of them posing.
So much for Wild Wednesday. But soon after I'd set off home, I saw this unmistakeable sight. I pulled over and got some fantastic views. Another shot in extras. Can I get to 200 birds before I get to 2000 Blips - a new challenge for me perhaps?
