I walk the line.

Song recorded by Johnny Cash in 1957. Given another glorious afternoon M and I walked part of the old Yealmpton Branch railway line which closed to passenger traffic in 1947 and freight in 1960 when the track was torn up. The old rail bed is still there in places and the stretch we walked runs alongside  the river estuary although nature is steadily reclaiming it. Typically we can never be there at high tide, but at least there was plenty of wading birds etc feeding in the mud. The middle pic is a Little Eagret, but I'm not sure of the Duck ? at top right. Bottom left is all that remains of a rail bridge which used to carry the line over an inlet.
