Chiffchaff

A few weeks ago I was asked to play in a third ceilidh band which had been formed for a one off gig. Being a glutton for punishment I agreed and have spent hour upon hour learning and practising their repertoire for the gig on Saturday.

Today I heard from the band leader that the organisers had cancelled due to low ticket sales!

After receiving the news I decided to have a walk along the canal in the sun. I was rewarded with this beautiful little chiffchaff, a willow warbler and a kestrel. I was also pleased to see my first orange tip butterfly though too far away for a photo, peacock butterflies and a swan sitting on a nest as high as a throne.

If I'd have been playing on Saturday I'd have been in the house at the piano instead of having a lovely walk amongst spring flowers and creatures. That cloud had a silver lining!
