Sitting here on the shuttle bus in Beijing traffic, it's been a long day in the saddle. It started early after finding out there was a potential strike at the airport security checks. Alarm set for 0440 but we were both awake long before its toll

Breakfast at the airport after a very swift checkin (no sign of chaos that early). Boarded the plane at 8am & got off about 8 ½ hrs later in HK for a few hours before boarding once more for today's final destination: Beijing.
With just over 11hrs in the saddle of Cathay Pacific we managed a few moves, catchup tv & probably too much coffee on a day of sitting still. We flew up throughbNSW across Qld, over Groote Island, past Indonesia & Borneo, skirted across the top of Palawan & into HK (oh how I wished it was the old airport still)

HK airport has fabulous views of the surrounding islands - looking forward to getting back to see much more (also secretly hoping they have rain the day before arrive to clear the smog)

In Beijing we met Kelvin (our Nexus guide for this leg) & wandered around several parts of the airport before finally finding out transfer bus & making our way through the chaos of traffic to the hotel. Horns a blazing & the rules seem to be vague.

There are 8 of us heading to the hotel tonight & we'll meet the other 37 tomorrow....
