The Water Taxi
Unlike the large ferries that carry both cars and foot traffic, we also have a number of passenger only ferries. Today's image is of the Rachel Marie, a high speed catamaran ferry that gets you from West Seattle to downtown Seattle in less than ten minutes.
Just to the left of the stern of the Rachel Marie is the 76 story Columbia Tower, which is the tallest building in Seattle.
An interesting side note about the private club on the 75th and 76th floors.
The building's developer was SO sure that there would never be another building this tall in Seattle, that he installed floor to ceiling windows in each of the women's private restroom stalls on the 76th floor.
I have been a guest at the club once or twice, and sadly the men's restrooms in the central core of that floor have no view. I have however, heard a number of stories of wives and girlfriends escorting their significant other into the ladies rooms for a look at the view.
Meanwhile, back at the Water Taxi dock, the foot ferry is a popular method of transportation for both daily commuters, and also for folks that want to go into downtown without having to drive their car and then have to find a parking spot.
