Child's Play
It's gratifying to see that children who are very comfortable using television remote controls, iPods, iPads, digital cameras, and computers, are also equally comfortable coming up with imaginative uses for wildflowers!
Z was the first to pick these flowers along the trail from Fairhaven to Taylor Dock and employ them as nose ornaments. Her brother quickly followed suit.
The flowers were tossed aside when the possibility of a long run down the 10% slope of Taylor Dock was realized -- a great way to expend some of their boundless energy!
We've had a full and enjoyable day, which included:
-- Z helping me pick up some items at the Community Food Co-op this morning while B and Phil did mysterious things involving tools in P''s workshop
-- A lunchtime ramble around the Wednesday Farmers' Market in Fairhaven, eating whatever they fancied, meeting several vendors, and deliberating over what to buy as gifts for their parents
-- The previously mentioned trail walk to Taylor Dock
-- A visit to Mallard Ice Cream, made even more delightful by getting to pet a 7-week-old puppy at the entrance
-- A mid-afternoon video ("quiet time")
-- Homemade cheeseburgers for supper, with fresh green beans and corn (frozen but still tasty), fresh sugar snap peas, a simple loaf cake from the farmers' market, and the surprise bonus of cotton candy from a neighbor
-- A post-supper walk with Phil on the undeveloped land above our neighborhood
I'm glad we had this unstructured time with Z and B before our "Grandparents U" classes begin on Thursday morning. It's been a pleasure!
