Snow shoeing to the waterfall
By Tuesday we all knew each other's names and had figured out who were the stronger skiers and who had the best after-dinner stories.
The weather was not so great but was predicted to improve towards the end of the week, so we went snow-shoeing to the nearby waterfall. We trekked through the woods and fell in holes, encouraged each other along and generally had a great laugh.
The hotel is on a plateau formed during the last great ice-age and there are canyons formed by the emptying of the glacial lake bursting its banks. With the result that there are several stunning waterfalls and some amazing natural features in the landscape.
Snow-shoeing for your information is bloody hard work. I got back very tired to be told that we had probably covered about 8km at the most. Felt like twenty.
But it was worth it. Totally worth it.
