Gillipaw's Journal

Supertree Grove, Singapore

Day 9

A day of visiting gardens. We began at the Botanical Gardens, I especially enjoyed the Orchid and Ginger gardens. There is so much colour, and many water features. A beautiful place.

We got caught in a tropical storm with dramatic thunder and lightning. Ended up standing in a shelter for more than half an hour until we could make a run for the car, which is still decorated in wedding garlands.

After lunch and a rest, we headed for Gardens by the Bay. A huge area beyond Marina Bay Sands. A true feat of engineering skills and landscape gardening. First, the Flower Dome. Flowers and plants from all over the world. A stunning show in the centre of tulips and Japanese Cherry Blossoms. A vast dome, CJ was in his element admiring the structure.

Next to the Cloud Forest. A huge waterfall with vegetation all around. Every two hours the mist is switched on. You take a lift to the top of the waterfall, and then enjoy walkways around the area. Quite unique, and truly amazing.

The best till last, the sound and light show in the Supertree Grove. Vertical gardens which provide shade, and environmental features such as solar panels. The Garden Rhapsody show was outstanding. Songs from musicals including Les Mis, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, and hits from
Shirley Bassey, The Four Seasons. I chose this shot, as the colours reminded me of Scottish Thistles.

In case you missed it, the wedding celebration was yesterday. I have added a bit more to that entry now.
