Christmas though the ages
I had a great day out in London with friends. We started with sausage and mash at the S+M (sausage and mash) cafe in Spitalfields, then walked up past Old Street to the Geffrye Museum, which I'd never been to before. The place shows the living room of the 'middling classes' from the 17th century to the present day, and each room was decked out in Christmas decorations from the period - fantastic! I quite liked the 1830's Christmas and the 1920s Christmas - both looked very homely. I and the people I was with discovered that we're DINKY - as we're childfree and work in the media. I quite liked the DINKY living room, too. But it had nowhere to put all my stuff! I'm obviously not a minimalistic DINKY.
After the Geffrye Museum, we had a drink near Old Street then headed to a house party in Bethnal Green, where I had fun chatting to folk I didn't know, including a man named Beaver. I, of course, had to talk to this gentleman with a rodent nickname. Turns out he has family in Ellon where I also have family and his neice works in my workplace - London can be very small at times.
I've set myself a challenge, starting from 1 December - the countdown to Christmas. Think of it as an advent calendar... a Christmas image every day!
