Streetlight before sunup
Got down the steps to the southend of Snells Beach a few minutes before the time of sunrise. At this time of the year, from Snells Beach the sun rises behind the high point of Kawau Island. Tucked into the curve behind the cliffs of Fidelis Ave, this wee cove is darker for longer than are nearby areas.
The low light made for a dramatic view of a poaka (pied stilt) and a tarapunga (red-billed gull), with the addition of light from a streetlamp across the shallow water.
A day spent on reading agenda papers. Some solace gained from the persistent rain since midday.
