Jane Morris

Today I went to see William Morris's holiday home at Kelmscott near Oxford. William was a Victorian textile artist who produced many fabulous fabrics, popularised by Liberty. This drawing is of William' s wife , Jane, painted by the famous artist, Rossetti. Rossetti was a close friend of William and stayed at their home for two years. Apparently Rossetti had an affair with Jane during this time to which William drew 'a blind eye' saying his wife would get over it...which she did !!! A fascinating place and story .
