Escaping!

A full day.

This morning we went to dance class, which was fun, although CyclopsJnr tends to do his own thing a bit.

The good news is that CyclopsJnr has stopped patting every child he meets affectionately.  This is good because his pats often felt like a hit or slap to the recipient.  The bad news is that he is now hugging them instead.  This is his interpretation of our instruction to be gentle.  This is bad because his hugs often feel like a rugby tackle to the recipient, delivered as they are with both enthusiasm and momentum from the run-in.

This afternoon we went to the zoo.  He was most impressed by the penguins swimming underwater, and befriended a girl of about 7 on the climbing frame.  He was the only child under about 5 years of age in the noisy and boisterous play area, and she thought he was adorable.  He spent about 10 minutes waving bye bye when he decided to leave (our tour of the zoo was guided by him today), and literally jumped up and down with excitement when she ran over to give him a goodbye kiss on the cheek.

I put him on this seat to try to keep him still long enough to get a photo, but as you can see he immediately got off again and headed off on his rambles.

P.S. He was more impressed by the pelicans today, although he still does not accept they are birdies by his definition.  He does recognise the Painted Hunting Dogs as doggies.
