Blue Rayed Limpet

With a very low tide at 9.30am we were up and out early to head back to Gullane Point, the aim to be there half an hour or so before the lowest of the low so do a couple of transects for our Capturing Our Coast surveying. I never thought I'd get excited at seeing a limpet, but in amongst the kelp Mel managed to find a Blue Rayed Limpet, and what an astonishing little thing it is. We also came across a huge number of Brittle Stars, a few Hermit and Common Shore Crabs, various little bugs and beasties that some maritime experts on Twitter identified for us, and a giant (sadly dead) Starfish on the shore (amongst loads of other stuff).

Almost 6 hours we were out, so stopping at the cracking butcher in Port Seton for a scotch pie was well-earned.

Even managed to let the chickens out for a while later in  the day (plans to try and get them into the same run tonight); check out the two blow-up kayaks ahead of the trip to the Isles in a couple of weeks; and have a wander of the park, becoming all voyeuristic as two Woodpigeons got down to business (in the extras).
