The Usual Suspects

I had a wander down to my bottom patch today, along the river. The first Chiffchaffs of the year were singing away, and I even saw a Sparrowhawk nest building. I recorded a good selection of birds, including Grey Heron, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, but along the river itself the main sightings were Dippers (see extra) - only 3, as the river is still quite fast and high from recent downpours - and a ridiculous number of Grey Wagtails. Not that often you see them in the trees, but it does make them easier to photograph - at least until those buds burst. There are lots of Lesser Celandine and Wood Anemone and even some Bluebells starting to flower. Oh, and first butterflies today - Speckled Woods. Spring has well and truly sprung.
