Tampa Bay United

This morning was the last of Amy's team's matches against the various girls teams from Tampa Bay United. Her team played really well, having adjusted to playing in much hotter temperatures than they are, of course used to.

But this morning there was the added challenge of a brewing storm which we later found out had been upgraded to a tornado warning! They played in increasing heavy rain, until 10 minutes before the end when there was a massive clap of thunder and huge lightening bolt. At this point a loud horn blasted out and everyone ran for cover. This is a common procedure in the Tampa area. Indeed Tampa is often referred to as the lightening capital of North America.

Once undercover, there were presentations for both teams and the coach of Tampa Bay praised our girls and gave them words of encouragement to continue their training and hard work.

After lunch an afternoon of reward awaited them... a longed for trip to a shopping mall! A lovely way to end this football tour.
