We woke feeling unaccountably weary this morning; goodness knows we haven't exactly been busy the last few days. But we didn't surface till 10 o'clock (honestly, last night's tapas research turned into a walk along the promenade, a couple of glasses of wine, and the bus back at 9 pm, so it wasn't that) and didn't feel like planning anything. Quite apart from the fact that it was raining. Castro Urdiales is a place where if it isn't beach weather there's basically nothing to do except bar-crawling. So apart from a trip into town to buy a huge and outrageously fresh mackerel from the fishmonger, we have vegged out in the apartment today.

Now the sun is over the yardarm not visible through the pouring rain. Our cue to rake through the fridge for an apero. As it's our Spanish fridge, that means it contains a jar of piquillo peppers, some delicious strong local cheese, and bottles of cava (we finished the jamón yesterday). So potatoes, onions, lemon, garlic and herbs are baking in the oven prior to the mackerel being added, Aaron Diehl is on Spotify, and we're quite glad we've had a quiet, relaxing day.

Extra: the view from the window.
