Open DAB

David Attenborough was here today to officially open the building we all work in, named after him (the DAB).

He was pretty thrilled and honoured to have it named after him, and even though he turns the grand old age of 90 soon, is still as good a raconteur as anyone. There were all sorts of gushing offerings about the various organisations being together with Sir Dave as our glorious figurehead and I'll admit to having to dab (not DAB) away a few tears.

He's here 'in conversation' with Dame Alison Richard, an eminent conservationist herself, and former Vice Chancellor of Cambridge Uni, where the DAB is located.

He was in a more convivial mood than the time I was trying to make small talk with him in a lift at BBC Broadcasting House in 2009.
