Barcelona, Courtyard in the Bari Gotic
Our trip got off to a slightly bumpy start. Our flight was delayed by an hour and it took as a little while to get our bearings and find our way to the flat that I had rented in central Barcelona. We hadn't been able to contact the landlord to let him know as my mobile phone would not connect with the local network, but I didn't worry too much because I knew he lived next door to our flat. When we arrived he was standing in the street waiting for us. He was livid at being kept waiting around and would not accept my apologies. Subsequently we found out that the reason he was standing around in the street was because the doorbell didn't work...
Luckily it got better from there on. The apartment was very nice, in a perfect location, central and yet very peaceful. We spent half an hour settling in and then went out for a stroll around the Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter). Some of the buildings are breathtaking and the whole district is a living museum.
Later on we found a vegetarian restaurant with some really good organic white wines.
