On the squirrel feeder
There are three squirrel feeders on Wooler Common and, yesterday, velcro was attached to the underside of the lid of each feeder. It's hoped that this will catch some hairs from squirrels as they take the nuts, and help to determine whether there are grey squirrels in the area.
However, we suspect that they make find a few feathers on the velcro. Several times recently we've spotted pigeons, like this one, taking the nuts...
As we stood by the feeder this evening, we actually spotted a red squirrel moving from tree to tree, quite close to the feeder. Too fast and too high up for a decent shot though!
