Spring flowers

Spring is definitely here - I have itchy eyes and am sneezing, the April showers are on and off throughout the day, the daisies are growing in the lawn, and best of all, there are beautiful flowers coming up everywhere. I don't know what these are but I love seeing them every year.

Last night Gavin had a business dinner and got to Waterloo just as the train home was pulling out...he had to wait another 30 minutes for the next train (which was the last train of the day) and then fell asleep on the train and missed his stop! He woke up as the train was pulling out of our station, so he decided to get off at the next stop and get the next train back. But at midnight there were no trains back...and no taxis...and no Ubers either. He stood there for a moment and decided there was no alternative but to walk the 5 miles home. Just then his phone rang, and it was a friend who happened to be picking up his wife from that same station after she had a night out in London, and they had seen Gavin there and realised what had happened as they knew it was not his stop, and so they took Gavin home. How lucky was that! (Actually I doubt he would have walked, I am sure he would have tried to wake one of us up and asked us to fetch him...)

I am about to go make supper, Luke has some friends staying over and I think they will be very hungry after their afternoon of golf.
